Aamir Khan-produced Laapataa Ladies OUT from Oscars 2025 race

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the shortlist of 15 films for the Best International Feature Film category at the 2025 Oscars on Tuesday. While global favorites such as Emilia Perez and From Ground Zero secured spots, India’s official entry, Laapataa Ladies, was conspicuously absent. The exclusion of the Aamir Khan-produced Hindi film, directed by Kiran Rao, has reignited debates on India’s Oscars strategy.

Backlash Over Film Federation of India’s Selection The decision to send Laapataa Ladies as India’s official entry had sparked controversy earlier this year, with many arguing that Payal Kapadia’s Cannes-winning All We Imagine As Light was a stronger contender. Following the failure of Laapataa Ladies to make the shortlist, criticism of the Film Federation of India (FFI) has intensified.

One social media user expressed frustration, writing, "FFI snubbed AWIAL, destroying our chances to be on the list. The Film Federation of India requires a full revamp." Another added, "A shattering humiliation for India. If the only measure of success is to make choices that make you competitive, they have utterly failed."

Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies received critical acclaim for its portrayal of two brides interchanged in rural India during the 1990s. The cast featured newcomers Sparsh Srivastava, Pratibha Ranta, and Nitanshi Goel alongside seasoned actors Ravi Kishen and Chhaya Kadam.

On the other hand, All We Imagine As Light, an exploration of Mumbai’s working class, has consistently been a presence at international awards shows. It won the Grand Prize at Cannes and was nominated for the Golden Globes and Critics’ Choice Awards.

India’s biggest legacy media company, Yash Raj Films, announced last week, an exciting creative partnership with Posham Pa Pictures regarded as one of the most forward-thinking voices in Indian entertainment today. This collaboration will see the two jointly produce theatrical films starting 2025.

It's a wrap! Akshay Kumar starrer Skyforce concludes shoot with song, announce directors Saneep Kewlani and Abhishek Anil Kapoor

The year 2025 will kick off with the most awaited aerial action-drama film, Skyforce, set against the backdrop of the heated Indo-Pak tensions during the 1960s-70s. The film marks the collaboration of two visionary filmmakers, Sandeep Kewlani and Abhishek Anil Kapur. It features superstar Akshay Kumar alongside promising debutant Veer, Sara Ali Khan, Nimrat Kaur, and Sharad Kelkar in pivotal roles. The film is produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, Jio Studios, and Amar Kaushik (director of Stree 2).

Skyforce is all set to hit theaters on January 24, 2025, during the Republic Day weekend. The film has been shot at various locations, including Mumbai, Lucknow, Sitapur, Amritsar, Hyderabad, Delhi, Pathankot, the UK, and now Mussoorie, where a special song has been filmed.

Together, they have created a gripping narrative that promises high-octane action and a pure cinematic spectacle that Hindi film audiences are craving.

The action in the film is choreographed by Craig Macrae, who is known as an action choreographer, action director, and stunt coordinator. Some of his notable work includes Jawan (2023), Pathaan, War, and other Hollywood blockbusters like Mad Max: Fury Road, Grimsby, and Alien Outpost. He was mentored by Indian action director Parvez Shaikh, known for Kill, Fighter, and the YRF Tiger & Spy franchise, among others.

Hussain is survived by his wife, Antonia Minnecola, his daughters Anisa Qureshi and Isabella Qureshi, their families, his brothers Taufiq and Fazal Qureshi, and his sister Khurshid Aulia. Health Struggles and Family’s Statement On Sunday, reports surfaced regarding the musician's deteriorating health, with flautist Rakesh Chaurasia revealing that Hussain had been admitted to a San Francisco hospital’s ICU with heart-related complications. However, premature reports of his passing were dismissed by his publicist, who had requested prayers for Hussain’s recovery.

In an official statement released on Monday, Hussain’s family confirmed the unfortunate news, saying: “His prolific work as a teacher, mentor, and educator has left an indelible mark on countless musicians. Anushka Shetty starrer Ghaati set for Pan-India release on April 18, 2025

They asked me if I could give them the rights to Shaktimaan.” He added, “At that time, coincidentally, Ranveer Singh’s fan-made picture as Shaktimaan surfaced on social media. And then, suddenly, I got this call for the rights. I said, ‘Rights nahin doonga main (I won’t give the rights).'”

Khanna explained that he was concerned about the creative direction YRF might take with the character. He stated, “I told them, ‘Tell Aditya, whoever he is, if you want to make it, make it with me.’ I didn’t want to give away the rights only for them to make a disco drama. I refused.” Casting Preferences for Shaktimaan Earlier, in a video posted on his YouTube channel, Khanna expressed his views on actors who could potentially reprise the role of Shaktimaan on the big screen. While he acknowledged Allu Arjun as a viable candidate, he ruled out Ranveer Singh. “I think I have to watch more Allu Arjun films. Also, let me go out on a limb and say that he has it in him to be Shaktimaan. I am not saying he is doing it or anything. I’m just suggesting that it would look good on him. EXCLUSIVE: Surbhi Chandna turns producer for husband Karan Sharma's track 'Jaan E Jaan' starring Sonyya Ayoddhya and Shehzad Shaikh

The romantic track 'Jaan E Jaan' was released on December 9, featuring the incredible pairing of Sonnya Ayodhyya and Shehzad Shaikh. Produced by Surbhi Chandna and Karan Sharma, the song is a showcase of artistry and teamwork. Directed by Karan Sharma, with lyrics also penned by him, and music composed by Yash, the track was brought to life by the soulful vocals of Kavyakriti.

Sonnya Ayodhyya shared how she brings authenticity to every role she portrays. “Acting is my passion, and I strive to get better with each project. Honestly, I could romance a wooden plank and still make the chemistry look believable!” she said with a laugh. Allu Arjun’s FIRST statement after being released from jail in Pushpa 2 stampede case: “It was totally out of my personal control”

Telugu superstar Allu Arjun broke his silence on Saturday morning after being released from jail in connection with the stampede incident at a Hyderabad theatre screening Pushpa 2. The tragedy, which occurred earlier this month, claimed the life of a woman and left her son critically injured. Arjun had been arrested on Friday after returning from the success meet of Pushpa 2 in Delhi.

Actor Expresses Condolences and Vows Support Accompanied by his father Allu Aravind and father-in-law Kancharla Chandrasekhar Reddy, Allu Arjun exited the jail through the back gate and addressed the media. In his first statement since the arrest, he said:

“I would like to first thank everybody for their immense love and support. I thank my fans. I am well; there is nothing to worry. I am a law-abiding citizen, I respect the law, I will cooperate with them, and do the needful. I would like to give my condolences to the family. He further added, “I have been going to watch my films for the last 20 years; I have been there 30 times. I will be there to support the family in whatever possible way. I know we can never cover the loss, but I will be doing what I can. I thank everyone for the support.”

Legal Battle and Controversy Allu Arjun’s lawyer, Ashok Reddy, described the arrest as “illegal detention,” alleging that jail authorities delayed his release despite receiving the Telangana High Court’s interim bail order on Friday.

“They received an order copy from the High Court, but despite that, they didn’t release him,” Reddy stated. “This is an illegal detention. We will take legal action. As of now, he has been released.”

Arjun had been remanded to 14-day judicial custody by a lower court, but the Telangana High Court granted him interim bail, citing his right to liberty. EXCLUSIVE: No 3D version of Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2 - The Rule in the second week as well

The much-awaited film Pushpa 2 – The Rule was released exactly a week ago, Thursday, December 5, and it has fulfilled all the expectations. It had a record opening and continued to do blockbuster business despite inflated ticket rates. Last week, Bollywood Hungama was the first one to inform that the 3D version of the Allu Arjun starrer will be available in cinemas from the second week of the film, that is, December 13 onwards. Bollywood Hungama has now learned that those who want to catch the film in 3D will have to wait a little longer.

A multiplex source told us, “There will be no 3D version available in cinemas from the second week as well, as planned. The theatres have opened the bookings for the second weekend in the normal 2D version and IMAX 2D and 4DX versions.”

The source continued, “We haven’t been given any reason for it. However, there are murmurs that probably in the fourth or the fifth week, the makers plan to release the 3D version. It might give another incentive to the fans of the film to watch the film wearing 3D glasses. This move would hopefully lead to a jump in collections.”

Last week, Bollywood Hungama reported that Pushpa 2 – The Rule’s 3D release was cancelled in its release week as the 3D print was not ready. The decision to do so was taken on December 3, that is, 2 days before release. By then, many theatres across the country had started selling tickets for the 3D version. These theatres then played the film in 2D and refunded the 3D glass charges to those patrons who had bought tickets for the 3D show.

Besides Allu Arjun, Pushpa 2 – The Rule also stars Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil. It is directed by Sukumar and is the sequel to the sleeper super hit Pushpa: The Rise – Part 01 (2021).

After Sunil Pal, Welcome actor Mushtaq Khan claims he was kidnapped and managed to escape

Days after comedian and actor Sunil Pal claimed that he was kidnapped, actor Mushtaq Khan’s business partner Shivam Yadav has shared that the actor too was kidnapped on November 20. He claimed that Khan was invited to be a part of an awards show in Meerut. He said that once he landed in Delhi, he was taken in a car supposedly to Meerut for the show. However, he was taken somewhere near Bijnor and that’s how he realized that he was kidnapped. Dubey also claimed that Khan didn’t suspect anything initially because he was paid in advance to attend the show and was also provided with flight tickets.

Shivam Yadav told India Today digital, “Mushtaq sir and his family were completely shaken over what happened with him. However, he was always sure that he would file an FIR after he composed himself. Yesterday, I went to Bijnor and filed an official FIR. We have proof of the flight ticket, the bank accounts and even CCTV footage near the airport. He also recognises the neigbhourhood, even the house where he was kept. I think the police team will surely get the culprits soon.”

Yadav also claimed that the kidnappers tortured him for 12 hours and demanded Rs. 1 crore from him. They later were able to get Rs. 2 lakh from his and his son’s account. Yadav said that early in the morning Khan heard the azaan and realized that a mosque is nearby. He ran away to the mosque where he sought help from some people and returned home with the help of police.

Mushtaq Khan is best known for starring in Anees Bazmee’s iconic comedy Welcome and the recent blockbuster Stree 2.

Recently, Sunil Pal also claimed to have been kidnapped and released after he paid Rs. 7.5 lakh to the kidnappers. As Khan’s incident is similar to that of Pal, Yadav was asked if he thinks this is a new syndicate to kidnap celebrities. He said, “We had no clue about the case. After Mushtaq sir returned, we spoke about the incident with a few of our close friends. When Sunil's case was highlighted in the media, they informed us about the same. It is shocking that two public figures from the industry had to go through a similar ordeal. We hope there is awareness and protection in the future for everyone.”

The report also said that Khan will speak to the media in a few days.

Raj Kundra Porn Case: Gehena Vashisht speaks on payments, Hotshots app, Viaan industries and more key details

Actor and producer Gehena Vashisht was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday in connection with the ongoing Raj Kundra pornography case. The interrogation lasted for more than six hours, during which Gehena disclosed crucial details about her interactions and the operations related to the case.

This marks a significant development in the investigation as Raj Kundra himself has skipped ED summons on two occasions. Hotshots App and Alleged Connections with Raj Kundra One of the primary points of Gehena’s questioning revolved around the Hotshots app. Speaking to IANS after her interrogation, Gehena shared, “I have always maintained that I never interacted with Raj Kundra directly. Our interactions used to happen through Umesh Kamath. However, the premises we visited for meetings had ‘Viaan Industries’ written at the entrance. Also, we saw Raj Kundra’s family photo there. So, I am assuming that it’s Raj Kundra’s company. Otherwise, why would anyone else have Raj Kundra’s family photo in their premises?”

Hotshots, an app under scrutiny in the pornography case, was reportedly shut down in November 2020. Gehena stated that she met Raj Kundra for the first time in January 2021 to discuss two upcoming apps, Bollyfame and Jaldilife. “Raj was about to launch Bollyfame and Jaldilife, and our meeting was related to that. Shilpa Shetty was supposed to be the brand ambassador for it,” she added. Details on Payments and Transactions Gehena also revealed insights into her payment structure while working on films associated with the case. She disclosed, “I used to receive three lakhs for each movie. After completing each film, I would raise an invoice. The payments were made to my ICICI bank account in GBP (Great Britain Pounds), which I then converted into Indian currency.” Recent Raids and Legal Proceedings The ED’s questioning of Gehena comes days after raids were conducted at 15 properties linked to Raj Kundra and his associates in Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh. These searches are part of the ED's investigation into financial transactions related to the pornography case.

The case against Raj Kundra was first registered by the ED in May 2022. It involves allegations of producing and distributing pornographic content through digital platforms, raising serious questions about the financial operations connected to the apps.

The event, Rising Rajasthan, witnessed the singer sharing a heartfelt plea directed at politicians, including Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, for their behavior during the show.

Sonu Nigam’s Video Criticizes Politicians After the event, Sonu Nigam posted an Instagram video highlighting the issue. He criticized the Rajasthan CM and other politicians for leaving the concert midway, calling it disrespectful to artists and the goddess of knowledge and arts, Maa Saraswati.

In the video, Sonu said, “At the concert, many politicians, including CM sahab, the sports minister, and the youth minister, were present. During the show, I witnessed CM sahab and other people get up midway and leave. After them, other delegates also left. So, it is my humble request to politicians that if you won’t respect artists, then who will?”

This sets the scene for Black Warrant, a first-of-its-kind prison drama that marks Vikramaditya Motwane’s return to long-form storytelling on Netflix following the success of Sacred Games and CTRL. Ranbir Kapoor shares the status of Brahmastra 2; says, “That’s something very exciting”

Ranbir Kapoor has confirmed that his hit film Brahmastra is planned as a three-part franchise. Speaking to Deadline at the Red Sea Film Festival, the actor shared an update on the sequel, Brahmastra 2. He revealed that the team is currently developing the script for the film.

Speaking about the project, he said, “Part 2 is in the writing stage. “Part one was called ‘Shiva.’ Part two is called ‘Dev.’ We haven't really announced the cast yet. That’s something very exciting also. It's directed by one of my closest friend Ayan. I worked on two films with him before this, that's, Wake Up Sid, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Brahmastra. So definitely it was one of the first few films of that nature, especially for Indian Cinema. But it has potential to really really grow more in the coming parts,” said Ranbir.

Ranbir Kapoor has confirmed that his hit film Animal will be a three-part franchise. In a recent conversation with Deadline at the Red Sea Film Festival, he shared an exciting update about the sequel, Animal Park. Ranbir revealed that the team is currently working on the script for Animal 2, with shooting expected to start in 2027.

Now to add to that, during the screening of this film, an unknown man is expected to have sprayed some unknown substance in Gaiety – Galaxy which resulted in audiences falling sick.

As per reports, the police has kicked off an investigation regarding the same whereas the media outlets too had a conversation with the audiences present at the location. According to them, a man sprayed some substance during the interval of the night show of Pushpa 2: The Rule. The Gaiety- Galaxy theatre is a place where crowds flock to experience the singing and dancing vibe along with an interactive audience, especially during commercial releases. Considering the popularity of both – the film and the theatre atmosphere, it was quite crowded but fortunately, reports suggest that no major health hazard has been reported.

However, many who spoke to the media present at the scene, where they confessed that they experienced uneasiness, queasiness, nausea, vomiting, and coughing after the spray. The theatre authorities paused the film’s screening for about 10-15 minutes, keeping the doors wide open for the air circulation after which audiences were reseated and the screening was continued. Police arrived at the location almost immediately after the incident was reported and are currently looking into the CCTV footage to find the culprit.

The year 2024 hasn’t been good box office-wise wise but December is expected to make up for it. Pushpa 2 – The Rule has taken a historic opening and going by the early reactions, it has the potential to emerge as an all-time blockbuster. That’s not all. This month will also see the release of Baby John, starring Varun Dhawan. The film releases in just 20 days and from next week, the promotions of the film will begin in full force.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “The theatrical trailer launch of Baby John will be held on Monday, December 9 in Mumbai. It’ll be attended by lead actor Varun Dhawan along with Keerthy Suresh, Wamiqa Gabbi, director Kalees and blockbuster producer Atlee. Jyoti Deshpande of Jio Studios, Murad Khetani of Cine1 Studios and music director Thaman S are also expected to grace the event.”

The source added, “The teaser has given a glimpse of the world of the film while the song ‘Nain Matakka’ has made it clear that the film is not just an action-cum-emotional entertainer but also has fun, catchy numbers. Now, the trailer will throw light on the wholesome entertainment aspect of Baby John.”

Interestingly, Baby John’s extended trailer was unveiled to the exhibitors at the Big Cine Expo 2024 on September 30 this year and got a roaring response. Bollywood Hungama was exclusively present at the occasion and first-hand saw the response the trailer elicited. Atlee, Kalees and Murad Khetani were present at this trailer preview.

Ravi Dubey CONFIRMS role in Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana, calls Ranbir Kapoor “Elder brother he never had”: “He’s the only commercially viable artist of this generation”

Actor Ravi Dubey has officially confirmed his involvement in Nitesh Tiwari’s much-anticipated cinematic adaptation of Ramayana. In an exclusive chat with Cine Connect, Dubey shared his excitement about being part of the ambitious project and his admiration for co-star Ranbir Kapoor.

A Sincere Retelling of a Timeless Epic Speaking about his role in Ramayana, Ravi said, “With due permission from my makers, I am [a part of the film]. I think Nitesh sir has a plan on how they want to talk about this project. If I kind of blurt out things irresponsibly and frivolously, it would not be right.”

He stated the cultural significance of Ramayana and the responsibility that comes with retelling such an important story. “It’s an important story for all of us. REVEALED: Allu Arjun-starrer Pushpa 2 - The Rule ends with the promise of a sequel titled Pushpa 3 - The Rampage

The much-awaited film Pushpa 2 – The Rule has finally released today and as expected, has taken an earth-shattering start in various languages across the country. The excitement was tremendous as Pushpa: The Rise – Part 01 (2021), the first part, had emerged as a sleeper super-hit at the box office in its Hindi version. It also has wide viewership on television and on OTT, making it clear that Pushpa 2 – The Rule will go anywhere once it is released. The belief was that the second part would be the last part of the series. But it has now come to light that it’s not the case.

Pushpa 2 – The Rule ends at a significant note and this is followed by the title announcement of the next part - Pushpa 3 – The Rampage. The second part is expected to have a very positive word of mouth, going by the early reactions and hence, the audience would be happy to know that the journey of the protagonist, Pushpa Raj, doesn’t end with the sequel. Massive Action Sequences Planned for Sikandar As Sikandar moves from its Hyderabad shoot to Mumbai, sources close to the project have revealed exciting details about the action sequences planned for the film. A special train sequence is expected to be one of the major highlights, with an elaborate set constructed at a Borivali studio in suburban Mumbai. According to a Mid-Day report, the scene will involve raw, gritty action, where Salman Khan’s character faces off against a gang of criminals.

A source mentioned, “The scale of this scene is massive. It involves raw, gritty action as Salman’s character is seen taking on a gang of baddies. The director’s brief to the action choreographer was to make it bloody and vengeful.” The intense sequence was filmed with a small crowd of just 30 people, and the next day, Murugadoss filmed a crowd-heavy action scene with approximately 350 people.

Single screens in Hindi speaking markets reject 60% revenue share demand for Pushpa 2 - The Rule; final terms to be decided post-release

Pushpa 2 – The Rule has generated a historic craze like never before across India. The original Telugu version has seen historic advances and even the Hindi and Tamil versions have received unprecedented response. This time, the exhibitors were relieved as there was no clash and they could plan the programming in advance without any headache. But an unexpected challenge cropped up in front of them – the revenue sharing terms.

An exhibitor told Bollywood Hungama on condition of anonymity, “The distributors and exhibitors demanded 60% share in the revenue that would be generated from the sale of tickets in single screens. They felt that they were justified with this demand due to the never-before-seen anticipation generated by Pushpa 2 – The Rule.”

The source added, “However, all the exhibitors in the Hindi-speaking markets as well as Andhra Pradesh-Telangana vehemently rejected this idea. The distributors tried to convince but the exhibitors are adamant that such terms are not acceptable. They argued that 50% revenue sharing is the norm and even the recent big-ticket films like Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 adhered to it.”

The exhibitor continued, “As of now, both parties haven’t reached a consensus. The studio has dropped the 60% revenue-sharing idea and is looking at revenue sharing in the range of 50-55%. They have told the exhibitors that if Pushpa 2 – The Rule manages to become an all-time blockbuster in Hindi, then they’ll ask for 55% share. Or else, they’ll request for a share below the figure of 55.”

A trade expert commented, “In some circuits in the North, the distributor didn’t make such a demand. Also, in Andhra Pradesh-Telangana, a settlement was reached at 55% revenue sharing.”

Meanwhile, Pushpa 2 – The Rule’s makers faced issues when they also made similar demands in Tamil Nadu. A source down South said, “Many cinemas in Chennai like Sri Sakthi Cinemas, S2 Cinemas, AGS Cinemas, Baba Cinemas, Rohini, Ega Cinemas etc. have still not opened advances. The popular Broadway cinemas in Coimbatore, too, had not begun selling tickets until last night. The bookings opened on Wednesday, December 4, at 10:00 am. The other theatres are also expected to follow suit once both parties reach an agreement.”

Sunil Pal’s Disappearance Sparks Concern On Tuesday, Sunil Pal, known for his participation in The Great Indian Laughter Challenge (2005) and roles in films like Hum Tum (2004) and Phir Hera Pheri (2006), went missing, prompting his wife Sarita Pal to seek assistance from the police. According to reports, the comedian was unreachable by phone for several hours, adding to the growing concern about his well-being. His phone was reportedly switched off after some time, causing further distress. Update on the Situation Hours after the missing report was filed, Sunil Pal contacted his family to inform them that he was safe and on his way back home. His wife, Sarita, shared the update with the media, confirming that she had spoken to him. "Sunil ji se baat ho gayee. He has spoken to the police,” Sarita texted Mumbai-based photographer Viral Bhayani’s team.

Film trade analyst Girish Wankhede also revealed that Sunil Pal had informed him about a "problem" but reassured him that he was now "out of it" and was traveling back to Mumbai. A senior police official, Unit 9 Crime Branch Daya Nayak, confirmed that Pal had been found safe and would soon be questioned about the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.

EXCLUSIVE: CBFC passes Pushpa 2 – The Rule’s Hindi version 48 hours before release; replaces 'Ramavatar' with 'Bhagwan'

Last week, on Thursday, November 28, Bollywood Hungama was one of the first ones to inform readers about the cut list of Pushpa 2 – The Rule’s original Telugu version. Bollywood Hungama now brings exclusive news of the censor process of the Hindi version of arguably the most awaited film of the year.

Today, December 3, the Central Board of Film Certificate passed the Hindi version but with a few cuts. The word 'Ramavatar' was removed and it was replaced with 'Bhagwan'. The word 'Haraam zaada' was excised three times. It was replaced with 'Haraamkhor' in all three places. There is a dialogue, unspecified in the cut list, and it was changed into Hindi.

Then the scene of an amputated leg flying was asked to be removed. The same scene was also present in the original Telugu version and even there, it was censored. Finally, mandatory anti-smoking warnings were inserted in smoking scenes.

The original Telugu version of Pushpa 2 – The Rule was passed on November 28. For this version, the Examining Committee of the CBFC asked the makers to delete the word ‘r***i’ in three places. Similarly, the words ‘Denguddi’ and ‘Venkateshwar’ were also asked to be excised. Apart from the amputated leg scene, the protagonist is seen holding a severed arm of a person. Here, the CBFC asked the makers to zoom in on the protagonist so that the violent bit is not shown on the screen.

Both the Hindi and the Telugu versions of Pushpa 2 – The Rule have been passed with a U/A certificate and are 200.38 minutes long. Starring Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil, this action entertainer releases in cinemas on December 5. It is directed by Sukumar and its earlier part, Pushpa: The Rise - Part 01 (2021), was a surprise super hit in Hindi. The film was also widely consumed in Hindi and Telugu. As a result, the excitement for the sequel is unprecedented.

EXCLUSIVE: Pushpa 2 - The Rule's 3D release cancelled for the release week; 3D version to now be available from December 13

Less than 48 hours are left for the release of Pushpa 2 – The Rule and the tickets are selling like hot cakes across the country. The film will be available not just in different languages but was all set to be played in 2D, IMAX 2D and 3D versions. But in a sudden development, Bollywood Hungama has learned that the 3D version of the film will not be released.

A source told Bollywood Hungama, “The 3D version is not yet ready. Hence, the makers of the film decided to forgo the release of the film in 3D this week. As a result, on December 5, the film will only be played in 2D versions across the country and the world in various languages.”

The source, however, added, “The makers have now decided to release the 3D version next Friday, that is, December 13. By then, the 3D prints would be ready. The exhibitors all over have been informed about this development.”

A manager at a multiplex confirmed it on condition of anonymity. He said, “We were all set to play certain shows of Pushpa 2 – The Rule in 3D. But today we were told about the delayed 3D release. Now, we’ll play those shows in 2D.”

He continued, “The rates of 3D versions are slightly higher due to the 3D glass usage charges. We’ll now have to return this amount to the viewers. It has increased our workload but nevertheless, we are excited to play Pushpa 2 – The Rule from December 5. The advance booking is phenomenal.”

An industry insider commented, “It’s unfortunate but these things happen. The producers raced against time to complete the film more than a week before its release and also completed the Censor process last Thursday. Let’s not forget that Pushpa 2 – The Rule is being released in 5 languages. The makers should be lauded for getting the marketing right and exciting audiences in such a way despite the challenges in hand.”

The backlash was so severe that an FIR was lodged and the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Mumbai Police also got involved.

Karan Aujla, one of the most loved singers, who became even more famous after singing ‘Tauba Tauba’ in Bad Newz, is all set to have a multi-city tour in India in December 2024 and early January 2025 called ‘It Was All A Dream’. During an exclusive interaction with Bollywood Hungama, Karan was asked about this episode and what can be done to reduce such instances.

Karan Aujla replied, “Since I come from the industry and do shows regularly, let me tell you straight up how I see this - it's a complex situation happening everywhere, not just in India. As artists, we need to work closely with organizers and ticketing portals to make this process more fan-friendly. It's about the connection between the artist and the fan, nothing should come in the way of that. I think we need more integrated and organized structures.”

Regarding his upcoming India tour, Karan said, “My team and I always try to give fans something they've never seen before. It could be new versions of songs, special effects, or maybe some unexpected collaborations... who knows! I never want my performances to be just like regular shows. Every time you see me on stage, it should be a new experience. One thing's for sure - whatever we're planning, it's going to be worth the wait!”
