Mumbai Police says medicines by sisters may have contributed to Sushant Singh Rajput’s death; asks court to not quash FIR against Rajput’s sisters

On Monday, the Mumbai Police told the Bombay High Court that Rhea Chakraborty's complaint against Sushant Singh Rajput's sisters "disclosed commission of offence"and that they are “duty bound” to file the FIR. This comes days after the CBI opposed the FIR against the sisters.

In the affidavit filed in the court by the police, they also dismissed allegations of trying to damage the reputation of the late actor and his sisters. Sushant Singh Rajput's sisters- Priyanka Singh and Meetu Singh had earlier filed a petition seeking to dismiss the case against them. Meanwhile, the affidavit submitted by the Mumbai Police seeks the dismissal of the petition by the sisters.

The affidavit stressed that "a fake medical prescription was sent by the petitioners with the help of a Delhi-based doctor wherein medicines for anxiety were prescribed to Rajput". The affidavit also claimed that this medicine might have contributed to the death of the 34-year-old actor.

“This may have led to administration of psychotropic substances without actual examination of Rajput by the doctor, and may have caused and contributed to his suicidal death. This version of the informant disclosed cognisable offences warranting investigation and requiring no preliminary enquiry. Therefore, the Mumbai police were duty-bound to register the FIR," the police told the court in the affidavit.

Six days before his death, Sushant Singh Rajput’s sisters allegedly procured medicines that are banned under the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substance. According to the WhatsApp texts exchange between Sushant and his sister, Priyanka Singh had reportedly advised him to take Librium, Mexito and Lonazep that are prescribed for anxiety and depression. The petition revealed that Dr. Tarun Kumar readily prescribed the medicine without having any prior knowledge of Sushant’s condition and mental health.

Huma Qureshi to play the lead in Subhash Kapoor’s political drama Maharani

Filmmaker Subhash Kapoor is foraying into digital space and working on a political drama titled Maharani. It will be multi-season series streaming on Sony LIV. Now, reports state that Huma Qureshi has been roped in to play to headline the project.

While the details of the project are kept under wraps, Huma Qureshi’s character will go through a rollercoaster journey in her political career. Subhash Kapoor will serve as the showrunner and the producer and Naren Kumar will co-produce. Karan Sharma will direct the series.

Subhash Kapoor and Huma Qureshi previously worked together in Jolly LLB. Huma is not new to the world of OTT. Last year, she made her Netflix debut with the series Leila and even worked with Dibakar Banerjee in Freedom. Her next Netflix project would be Zack Snyder’s Army Of The Dead.

Kangana Ranaut and Rangoli Chandel summoned by Mumbai Police on November 10

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel have been summoned by the Mumbai police once again. They have been asked to be present before the police for questioning on November 10.

A First Information Report (FIR) was filed against Kangana and Rangoli following a Mumbai court order a few weeks back. The order was passed after a casting director, who petitioned in the court, alleged that the actress is creating ‘a communal divide between people of two communities and in the mind of common man' via her tweets on Twitter. The petitioner, Sahil Ashrafali Sayyed, also mentioned Rangoli in the complaint. He said that Kangana is creating a divide between Hindu and Muslim artists and maliciously bringing religion in almost all her tweets.

Towards the end of October another petition was filed against the siblings by Advocate Ali Kaashif Khan. According to Live Law India, “Court ordered an inquiry under Section 202 of CrPC and called for a police report on the allegations against the siblings. Judge Bhagwat T Zirape was hearing a complaint filed by Advocate Ali Kaashif Khan Deshmukh for offences punishable under Sections 153-A, 153-B, 195-A, 298, 505 read with Section 34 of the Indian Penal Code. Advocate Ali has recently filed another complaint against Kangana Ranaut before the Andheri Magistrate Court for allegedly causing disharmony between Hindus and Muslims and for allegedly mocking the judiciary after a Magistrate Court in Bandra ordered FIR to be registered against Kangana and her sister.”

Deepika Padukone's manager Karishma Prakash resigns from KWAN Talent Agency amid drugs investigation

Deepika Padukone's manager Karishma Prakash has been untraceable for a while ever since her name up in the drugs angle case that Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has been investigating for the past couple of months. While Deepika had arrived from Goa to give her statement when she was summoned, her manager has been missing even after summons were sent to her. Now, it seems like she has resigned from KWAN Talent Agency.

As per a report by Times Now, Karishma Prakash “resigned on 21 October. Her associations with Deepika Padukone and some other actors were only as a KWAN employee. Naturally, those connections will also be severed,”

Karishma Prakash was summoned by the NCB on October 27 after drugs were allegedly seized from her residence. As per reports, 1.7 grams of charas and two bottles of CBD oil were found at her house.

Akshay Kumar and Kriti Sanon to kick-start the shoot for Bachchan Pandey in January 2021

Akshay Kumar has been a busy man. After wrapping up Bell Bottom, in Scotland in August, the actor has resumed work on a period drama, Prithviraj, at a city studio. Before the year ends, he will wrap up Aanand L Rai’s love story Atrangi Re and kick off the new year with a fourth film in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. Sajid Nadiadwala’s Bachchan Pandey will roll in January and continue till March. It marks the actor’s 10th collaboration with his producer-buddy.

“Akshay, along with actress Kriti Sanon, director Farhad Samji and the rest of the unit will fly to Jaisalmer in a charter for a marathon schedule of over 2 months during which they will be shooting in real locations. Last month, the production team secured all the requisite permissions and taken care of all the government guidelines and locked the shooting locations,” revealed a source. Akshay, Sajid, Kriti, and Farhad’s previous collaboration, the 2019 period-comedy Housefull 4, was also shot in the Golden City and the source added that several of that film’s crew are on board for Bachchan Pandey as well.

The entire team will be stationed at a Suryagarh Hotel together and some indoor sequences will be shot there. The film also has some elaborate action scenes and teams from across the country will be joining the crew for that shoot. Bachchan Pandey, along with Heropanti 2, will be among the first two Sajid Nadiadwala productions to flag off, and the filmmaker has formed a special team, including doctors from Mumbai, to ensure that all Covid safety protocols are enforced on the set.

“The team will undergo an extensive workshop on all SOPs issued by the government to ensure a “no-contact set” to be created. The entire cast and crew will undergo a mandatory Covid test towards December end and the crew will be quarantined for three days before the shoot. Two doctors to fly with the crew from Mumbai to Jaisalmer and will be stationed at the shooting location. Special medical rooms will be set up in Jaisalmer and each and every location will be sanitized a day prior to the shoot,” informed the source.

“Akshay is looking forward to exploring another interesting script. His get-up will be high on prosthetics which is prominent in the last poster which came out in January 2020,” shared the source, saying that the film will have an interesting ensemble cast and some acclaimed actors are expected to come on board within a fortnight. “There’s also another actress who will be a part of the film and the makers are considering two-three names; dates are being worked upon,” the source concluded.

Naseeruddin Shah’s son Vivaan Shah tests positive for Covid-19

The cases of COVID-19 are rapidly increasing in the country. Many Indian celebrities have tested positive in the past few months. In recent times, Naseeruddin Shah’s son Vivaan Shah has confirmed that he tested positive for Covid-19 too. Speaking to a daily, he said that he has not been feeling well since he was tested positive.

He joins the long list of actors who had tested positive including Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan, Kanika Kapoor, Malayalam actor Prithviraj Sukumaran, Tamannaah Bhatia, Arjun Kapoor, Malaika Arora among others.

Vivaan Shah has been quite busy promoting Mira Nair's A Suitable Boy which stars Tabu, Ishaan Khatter, Ram Kapoor among others.
